Hello friends! After a year of preparation, I’m going to query my novel later this week (send it to agents) so please cross your fingers for me. It is a nerve inducing experience, but I’m more excited than terrified so we’re off to a good start.

First day in the new art room.
1. The Olympics
This is the first Olympics where our kids are as excited to watch as we are and I treasure this. Some of my best childhood nostalgia memories are when my parents called me out after bedtime to watch figure skating or gymnastics. We also love watching curling. (Why is it so good???)
2. My The Secret History Hat

3. A Pet/Kid Friendly Rug
I ordered this rug for a room that’s been missing a rug for a long time. I think it’s going to be perfect.
4.Reading in Bed
I’m slowly converting myself to a before-bed reader. I just finished The Correspondent (Loved! 5 stars). Next, I’m going to start Our Wives Under The Sea. Please send me recommendations for books that kept you up reading. It’s working!

5. Painting Daily
I haven’t been in the routine of painting daily in more than a year. Typically I paint in batches (1-2 long days per month and more when I have show coming up). But since I am beginning to query my novel again I need all the positive distractions I can get (anything is better than refreshing my email all day). For the foreseeable future I’m going to keep a revolving door on my painting room and drop in for mini sessions anytime I start to feel anxious. It’s such a soothing hobby!
6. Perfume
I’m kind of in a fragrance collecting phase recently. It started when I gifted Jeremy one of those big samplers for Christmas, then I got jealous and started ordering samples of my own. Anyway, I’ve found several good ones but yesterday I tried one which he said is his “favorite scent ever” and “smells like the 90s”, which was such a fun/weird compliment.
It’s The Poet by Kismet Olfactive. Here’s a link to their classics sampler.

7. Harry Styles
Once the dancing kicks in (3:39ish)
Which reminds me, music video rabbit holes are a great mood cure. If you haven’t fallen down one recently, try it!
8. My weekly weird recommendation.
For my weekly random (and slightly gross) item, I just started using these retainer cleaner tablets. If you have a retainer they are SO much better than trying to clean it with a toothbrush. Just drop a tablet in a glass of water with your retainer and it’s always super clean and fresh.

Experiments.
9. New Alice Hoffman Witch Novel
The Witches of Cambridge. I’m so excited for this book, which comes out in August (for people like me August is the beginning of Halloween).
10. New Podcast Episodes!
We’ve got weekly podcast episodes coming out every Monday. You can listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
